THCI's Curriculum Framework and ACGME Competencies

THCI's curriculum framework defines 10 domains comprising elements of health care and clinical practice that are important in today's environment. Several of these domains directly relate to the two ACGME competencies on Systems-based Practice and Practice-based Learning and Improvement.

For a complete description of THCI's curriculum, see the THCI Curriculum Framework. This framework is based on extensive analysis of the literature and a synthesis of nine national reports on physician competencies for the changing practice environment.

THCI has published the findings of this review of curriculum reports in the article:
A Synthesis of Nine Major Reports on Physicians' Competencies for the Emerging Practice Environment. Ralph Halpern, Mary Y. Lee, Philip R. Boulter, and Rosalie R. Phillips. Academic Medicine. June 2001;76(6):606-615.
