Tufts Health Care Institute's online Health System Knowledge
Assessment© is a 50-question, self-scoring instrument that
measures the respondent's familiarity with content drawn from
THCI's Curriculum Framework
and related to the ACGME competencies of Systems-based Practice
and Practice-based Learning and Improvement.
For individuals, the Health System Knowledge Assessment is
a way of testing their familiarity with the health care system
and techniques of managing care and improving quality for
patients and populations.
For GME programs and educational institutions, THCI recommends
that the Health System Knowledge Assessment be administered
prior to a course of study on Systems-based Practice and Practice-based
Learning and Improvement as a diagnostic indicator and pre-test.
Following the use of THCI's online resources and/or other
related curricula, the Health System Knowledge Assessment
can be repeated as a post-test in order to assess respondents'
acquisition of new knowledge.
THCI's Health System Knowledge Assessment was developed by
content experts, reviewed by separate content experts and
refined based on focus groups with residents and clinicians.
