Online Learning Modules Overview

FOCUS

Online learning brings THCI's accredited care management and quality improvement curriculum to the desktop of students, residents, faculty, physicians in practice, and other health care practitioners. THCI educational resources provide an easily accessible means to learn practical strategies, tools, and techniques for managing care, which in turn help align clinical and organizational goals for achieving mandated competencies and improving overall system performance.

THCI's online learning modules focus on specific topics related to improving quality in health care and managing the care of individuals and patient populations. This content directly addresses the learning objectives cited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), as well as recommendations of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) and the Institute of Medicine (IOM) in the competencies of Systems-based Practice and Practice-based Learning and Improvement. For module topics information, click here.

FEATURES

The online learning modules require approximately 45-60 minutes to complete and are designed to be easy to use and adaptable to individual schedules. Features include:

  • A Table of Contents that enables learners to view an outline of the content at a glance and navigate flexibly throughout the module.
  • A Progress Indicator that tracks how much of a module, by section, has been completed and how much remains.
  • Checkmarks in the various sections that highlight sections viewed and indicate pages remaining.
  • A Notepad with links to module pages that allows the learner to take notes, print, and save for later viewing.
  • A Book mark that lets learners exit before finishing and then return to the same spot.
Additionally, learners have a range of resources, including web links, publication references, and glossary terms to enhance learning.

ACCREDITATION

Each of the learning modules is accredited for one credit of CME for physicians, and CE for pharmacists and nurses. This activity meets the criteria for 1 hour of risk management study. CME and CE credits can be applied for and received electronically. CME/CE accreditation is jointly sponsored by Tufts Health Care Institute and Tufts University School of Medicine.
