Session I
Educational Objectives
|
By the end of this session,
participants will be able to:
- Describe the positive outcomes associated
with effective providerpatient communication, including
increased patient and provider satisfaction, improved patient
understanding, adherence and medical outcomes, and decreased
malpractice litigation;
- Describe the 3 functions of the medical interview;
- Demonstrate self-awareness of communication skills;
- Demonstrate effective use of a set of communication skills
which improve medical interviewing and enhance patient satisfaction
and other positive patient and provider outcomes;
- Demonstrate effective use of communication skills and
protocols that will
facilitate positive outcomes in challenging provider - patient
interactions.
