| Patrick
C. Alguire, MD, FACP
Patrick C. Alguire MD, FACP, graduated from Michigan State
University College of Human Medicine in 1975. He completed
a categorical residency in internal medicine at St. Joseph
Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor Michigan in 1978. The American
Board of Internal Medicine certified him in 1978.
From 1979-1995, Dr. Alguire was on the faculty at Michigan
State University College of Human Medicine, achieving the
rank of Professor and Chief of the Division of General Medicine.
While at Michigan State University, Dr. Alguire was Program
Director for the Internal Medicine residency program and co-director
of the Problem-based Learning Curriculum for the second year
medical students. Dr. Alguire also served as faculty member
and acting chair of the Michigan State University Primary
Care Faculty Development Fellowship Program. During his career
at Michigan State University, Dr. Alguire was awarded the
Distinguished Clinician Award, and numerous teaching awards
from students and residents.
From 1995-1998, Dr. Alguire was a Professor of Medicine and
Medical Director of the Physician’s Assistant Program
at the University of Florida and Chair of the Faculty Development
Committee. Dr. Alguire also served as Director of the Managed
Care Curriculum for the residency program.
Since April of 1998, Dr. Alguire has been the Director of
Education and Career Development at the American College of
Physicians–American Society of Internal Medicine, and
is responsible for the Community Based Teaching Project. He
is also a member of the USMLE Step 1 Committee serving as
Chair of the Applied Anatomy Committee, and as a member on
the Introduction to Clinical Diagnosis Committee. He also
serves as Chair of the Digital Imaging Task Force for the
National Board of Medical Examiners. He also represents the
ACP-ASIM as an ex-officio member of the ACGME Residency Review
Committee-Internal Medicine. Currently, Dr. Alguire is Clinical
Professor of Medicine at Jefferson Medical School in Philadelphia.
His research is in the area of medical education and faculty
development.
Ralph Halpern, MSW
Mr. Halpern is Director of Content Development and Program
Evaluation at Tufts Health Care Institute. He develops curricula
and instructional materials for online and classroom delivery,
edits Institute articles and publications, and has co-authored
articles about THCI's activities and curriculum. Mr. Halpern’s
health care career began at the Health Planning Council for
Greater Boston, the local federally funded Health Systems
Agency; continued in planning at Harvard Community Health
Plan (now Harvard Pilgrim Health Care); and moved on to strategic
planning at Tufts-New England Medical Center, the principal
teaching hospital of Tufts University School of Medicine.
In these positions, Mr. Halpern assessed the local health
care environment and the opportunities for change, and helped
implement initiatives and projects to meet the needs of the
service population while advancing the organizations' strategic
goals. Mr. Halpern is a graduate of Harvard College and the
Boston College School of Social Work, majoring in community
organization and social planning.
Robin S. Richman MD
Dr. Richman is currently senior clinical leader at Tufts
Health Care Institute. She is also a senior consultant with
Women’s Health Management Solutions, a specialty-consulting
firm in New York City focusing on addressing women’s
health needs from a systems perspective among all health care
stakeholders. Dr. Richman has worked with various trade associations,
pharmaceutical companies and provider organizations on vision
and strategy development as well as program implementation.
She serves on various boards, including the American Cancer
Society’s CEO Advisory Board, the NCQA Women’s
Health Measurement Advisory Panel, and the Pfizer Women’s
Health Board.
Dr. Richman most recently was Vice President and Medical
Director for Quality at Tufts Health Plan in Waltham, Massachusetts,
and chaired the Women’s Health Subcommittee for the
American Association of Health Plans. She was on the Board
of Directors and Treasurer for Massachusetts Healthcare Quality
Partners, which developed and implemented a statewide survey
assessing patient satisfaction with in-patient hospitalization.
Dr. Richman is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology.
She did her residency training at University of Southern California–Los
Angeles County Women’s Hospital and did post graduate
training in reproductive endocrinology and infertility in
Boston. She is currently on the clinical faculty of Tufts
University School of Medicine.
John J. Wisniewski, MD, MHSA
Dr. Wisniewski is Associate Dean and Medical Director for
Ambulatory Services and Associate Professor at the Medical
College of Ohio. He previously served as the Medical Director
for Managed Care Services within the Henry Ford Medical Group.
He is a practicing general internist with more than 17 years'
experience in managed health care and health care administration.
Dr. Wisniewski earned his MD degree at Wayne State University
in Detroit, Michigan, and a Master of Health Services Administration
degree at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
