The ISDS 2008 Conference will include the following awards:

 

·        Best Publication of the Year

·        Best Oral Presentations

·        Best Posters

·        Best Student Oral Presentation

 

For the first time, the ISDS will recognize the Best Publication of the Year and invite and fund the author to present the paper at a plenary session of the conference.  The entire ISDS membership is invited to nominate their choice for the paper published between August 1, 2007 and July 31, 2008 with the greatest potential for advancing the field of disease surveillance.  The award committee will select the finalists, and ISDS members will be able to vote to help pick the winner.

 

The 2008 conference will also award prizes for the best oral presentations and poster presentations in the the three tracks: surveillance innovations, applications of methodologies to new domains, and improving public health investigation and response. Conference attendees will vote for the best oral presentations and hear the winners at the final plenary session.  In addition, there will be a special student award for the best oral presentation.
